My work aims to preserve and represent parts of my culture and heritage mainly through painting. I explore different ways to re-tell stories, whether those that are passed down orally through generations, i.e., folktales, or those I’ve heard from my grandmother about her life and the experiences she has had.  Coming from two socially different families, I experienced conflict as a child, and I’ve always struggled with feelings of affiliation. To finally embrace those parts from which I’ve felt detached for so long, I place myself at the centre of the narrative.
