My work deals with issues of solitude, isolation and the act of disappearing in modern society. I use the medium of analogue photography to create my imagery. Through cinematic self-portraits, I portray hyper feminine characters which are experiencing feelings of sadness, loneliness and invisibility. The use of analogue photography emphasizes the relevance of the time when the photograph is produced. I also put the subject (myself) into undefined cityscape environments – parks, residential streets, next to brick walls without marks or specific characteristics. By doing so, the viewer cannot simply decide where and when the photograph is produced. This way I am showing how issues that my characters are experiencing are universal.
