I am a portrait painter in a surrealist style, using acrylic paint and also incorporating some physical materials to maintain a formal and rigid pose aesthetic, focusing on exploring the influence of cultural processes and the significance of family, history and memory in the present day. I am also an artist in constant pursuit of change, always looking for the possibility of a breakthrough. My recent work may fit into the imagination of some Westerners about socialist China. But this is actually a misreading, that is no longer the Chinese or Chinese family of today, but the contemporary Chinese have changed so much about traditional, or at least post-1990 history, that it is almost a destructive erasure of memory.
